STUDENT RECOGNITION/RELATIONS

Gold and Silver Cards
School: Lanier County High School
Level: High School
Idea:
Gold and Silver cards are a great way to encourage students to keep their grades exceptionally high. Gold cards are provided to students that have managed to earn an A average in all four classes, and Silver Cards are given to students that have managed a B average in all four classes. On Gold Cards, each student is allowed into home sporting events for free, two tardy passes, a homework pass, and early release to lunch daily. On Silver Cards, each student has two-dollars off to all home sporting events, one tardy pass, one homework pass, and early release for lunch on Fridays. Cards are printed and given to students to keep up with throughout each semester.

Secret Santa

School: Mountain View High School
Level: High School
Idea:
Around Christmas time every year, the Mountain View Student Councils does our Secret Santa service project. Each council member donates a small amount of money to benefit students in our Special Education Department. With this money, small gifts, including basic necessities, like toothbrushes, and treats, like candy bars, are purchased for every student. Every morning for an entire week, the gifts are secretly placed on the students’ desks before school. Finally on Friday, our council has a pizza celebration and movie day with these students. The Special Ed students have really enjoyed this project these past years. They’re excited to arrive every morning and see what their Secret Santas left them. After this year’s project, our Student Council received a large thank you letter from these students which was very rewarding.

Serve North

School: North Gwinnett High School
Description:
Our goal is to give recognition to the groups, teams, and organizations who do not get as much recognition as they deserve. The gratitude that we hope they receive could create a domino effect of them thanking other groups or just people in general for all the hard work they do for North Gwinnett. We devote this week to all the teams and organizations and celebrate their importance and contributions on the campus. Depending on the time these groups met, we would make an appointment with the coach or advisor and then bring the team a treat during their meeting or practice.

Student Reward Days

School: Lanier County High School
Level: High School
Idea:
At our school, we award our students with different perks periodically throughout the year. The rewards given include going out to eat at a local buffet, free sweet tea, and a free meal from a local restaurant. The students are rewarded for having good grades and perfect attendance. This provides the students with a great motivation to do better and come to school.

Royalty Guard
School: Mountain View HS
Level: High School
Idea:
Royalty Guard is part of Mountain View High School's annual Homecoming Court Banquet. The night before homecoming, the homecoming court is invited along with their families to dinner at Mountain View before the homecoming football game (in which our homecoming queen is crowned). In addition, we also invite our "Royalty Guard" to this event. Our Royalty Guard is composed of several students from our Special Education department. During the homecoming queen crowning at halftime, the Royalty Guard gets to walk out on the field with our court and help crown the queen. This a very unique event at Mountain View. Our Royalty Guard kids love doing this every year. They always get so excited when walking out to the field. For more info, read this article.
