RUNNING FOR OFFICE
Hello GASC Members,
As Convention approaches, we hope that your school considers, and ultimately chooses, to run for a GASC State Executive Board position for the 2023-2024 school year. Serving on the State Board allows you to work closely with other student councils across the state, collaborate on state-wide projects and initiatives, and represent your school and community at the state level!
Here are the following positions you can run for with a brief summary of their roles:
President: Plans Convention and chooses the annual theme
Vice President: Plans District Conference
Secretary: Takes meeting minutes and manages the GASC Gazette
Communications: Edits and updates the GASC social media and website
Parliamentarian: Runs elections and updates the GASC Constitution
Middle School Member at-Large: Plans middle school programming
These can also be found under the GASC policies document (attached below).
If you are interested in running, please submit a Letter of Intent (a written email or document expressing your interest in running and for what position) by January 26th, 2023. It must include both a principal and advisor signature.
Below, we have attached both an example of a letter of intent as well an in-depth booklet explaining election procedures for this year. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us as we are glad to answer any questions or address any concerns.
Finally, if your school is unable to run for a position, then we encourage your students to consider joining the Election Committee. The Election Committee is a great way to get involved in GASC and help ensure that the election process runs smoothly during Convention. We need 2 students and 1 adult from each of the 3 districts. The application is attached below and is due by January 22th, 2023.
