Chalk the Walk School:Central Gwinnett High School Idea: Chalk the Walk is an Inter-club Council event to strengthen the community of clubs and sports at school. Each club has a section of an empty space or an alleyway to make a chalk design representing their club. The chalk blocks can be filled with a picture, symbol, or quote. The goal of this event is to get people from different clubs mingling in a creative environment and sharing ideas from one club to another. Class vs. Class Basketball School:GSMST Idea: Student Councils can put on a Class versus Class Basketball Tournament in which students of different grade levels face off in the quest to find the best class! First Day of School School:Mountain View High School Idea: For Mountain View's first day of school this year we kicked it off right! For the entire first half of the day we had each class in a rotation of events that included keynote speaker Laymon Hicks, an administrators speech, a club expo/carnival, a news broadcast, and a pep rally. Afterwords we had lunch and a seniors picnic. At the end of the day we squeezed an entire day of schedules into ten minute class periods. It was an idea we heard at GASC, and it was an amazing success. Mountain View definitely plans to do it again next year! Kick Cancer's Can School:Pierce County Middle Idea: The theme of our homecoming week was, "Kick Cancer's Can." We focused on cancer since we were raising money for CureSearch the same week. We had specific dress up days the entire week and student council went to every homeroom and kept a tally of the students and teachers dressed up for the day. At the pep rally at the end of the week, the grade level that had the most points for participation received the spirit stick. The spirit stick was placed at the end of the winner's hall to represent the most school spirit. The Best First Day of School Ever School:Central Gwinnett High School Idea: The Best First Day of School Ever is exactly what it sounds like. A lot of students dread coming back to school each year, but this event makes the first day one of the best days of the year. The day is filled with a pep rally, a motivational speaker, fun administrative videos, and a club fair! The Best First Day of School is a great way for freshman to explore the campus, and for all students to get to know the school in a new perspective. Welcome Back Week School: GSMST Idea: Student Council creates different activities for students' first week back to school that students can participate in for different days of the week. This is a social media campaign, and students are encouraged to post on social media using hashtags for each day. The posts are then all collected and compiled into a collage for each day or a summary video to recap the week.
